Tin Chen signs his National Letter-of-Intent

University of Louisville men's tennis head coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Tin Chen has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Cardinals.

Tin Chen, a native of Pintung Taiwan, joins the Cardinals after playing two seasons at ASA Miami Junior College where he helped the Silver Storm to the 2017 NJCAA national championship and a runner-up finish in 2018.

"It is nice to have our second top 100 ITF world-ranked junior sign with the Cardinals," said Ecarma. "He comes in with a lot of experience and will need his leadership as soon as he gets on campus. He has played all over the world so he is looking forward to the competition that the ACC presents each and every year. Tin Chen is serious tennis player who is very coachable. He is another person with a "Humble and Hungry" attitude. We have developed a good relationship through the recruiting process and I trust the person that I am bringing on campus."

Chin built an impressive playing resume at ASA Miami, finishing second in the country in both singles and doubles as the flight 1 runner-up in the National Junior College Athletic Association in 2018. At the end of his freshman season, Chen was ranked No. 9 in doubles and helped his team win the national title at flight No. 2. He also finished at No. 30 in singles after winning at No. 4 in the finals.

Prior to enrolling at ASA Miami, he was rated third Taiwan U18 rankings and reached as high as No. 99 in ITF juniors

"Having an opportunity to play at the University of Louisville and for Coach Ecarma is something I know I wanted from the time I first spoke to coach," said Chen. "The opportunity to play in the ACC and have to bring my best each day is what I look forward doing. I look forward to putting my mark on the program and helping my teammates achieve the absolute best!"
