Freshman Alex Wesbrooks wins in singles
SOUTH BEND, Ind. –The University of Louisville men's tennis team wrapped up play at Notre Dame's Bobby Bayliss Invitational Sunday afternoon.
Â
"Overall a lot of lessons were learned this weekend," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "A lot of it had to do with making changes for indoor tennis and playing the big points better. We will improve from here. Alex had a great finish to his tournament with improving with each round and finishing with a great win on the final day. It was well deserved and I'm happy to see hard work paying off."
Â
Freshman Alex Wesbrooks picked up a singles win for the Cardinals, beating Notre Dame's Jonathan Small 6-3, 6-2. In other singles action, sophomore Clement Filho lost a three-set battle to Marquette's Greg Anderson 4-6, 6-3, 11-9, freshman Fabien Salle fell 6-4, 7-6 to Western Michigan's Matej Svjetlicic and fellow freshman David Mizrahi lost 6-3, 6-1 to Marquett's Luke Smrek.
Â
In doubles, Wesbrooks and David Mizrahi were outlasted 7-6 by Nebraska's Victor Lozano and Mason Meier. Junior Clement Filho and freshman Fabien Salle fell 6-4 to Michigan State's John Carlin and Winkler.
Â
Louisville will return to action next weekend at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn.
