Clement Filho wins in singles and doubles

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Junior Clement Filho picked up wins in singles and doubles to lead the University of Louisville men's tennis team on day one of Notre Dame's Bobby Bayliss Invitational Friday afternoon.

"Today was a challenging day," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "We haven't played indoors all fall and were forced to go in on fast courts against schools that are used to the colder climate and playing indoors. The results were not what we wanted today. I felt we got stronger as the day went on though and I hope we can be better on the big points tomorrow. Spirits are still high and we finished on a high note. Tomorrow we continue to fight."

In singles action, Filho defeated Notre Dame's Andrew Mariados 6-3, 6-1 while freshman David Mizrahi topped Western Michigan's Peter Kuszynski 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles action, Filho teamed with freshman Fabien Salle to beat Western Michigan's Zav Faveri and Kris Knof 7-5.

The Bobby Bayliss Invitational will continue Saturday at 8 a.m.
