Morin-Kougoucheff Advances to Louisville Invitational Finals

Morin-Kougoucheff picked up his third straight win in the tournament, Moe and Paredes advance to consolation finals
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville senior Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff advanced to the finals of the 'A' singles division of the Louisville Invitational Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The doubles team of junior Fredrik Moe and freshman Juan Paredes also reached the consolation finals of the 'B' draw.

"I am very pleased about Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "Every time he gets challenged he raises his level. His movement get a little better every time he plays and his feel gets sharper each set that he plays. He is not quite back to normal yet but is definitely going the right direction."

In the semifinals of the 'A' draw, Morin-Kougoucheff defeated UT Chattanooga's Tomas Rodriguez 6-3, 6-3 to reach Sunday's title match where he will face Austin Peay's Almantas Ozelis who prevailed over Louisville freshman Fabien Salle to reach the finals.

The Cardinals picked up a pair of wins in the Red Draw as Paredes defeated Cumberland's Martin Munoz 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 and Moe bested Andersson 6-3, 6-2.

Moe and Paredes teamed to beat Illinois State's Diego Herrera and Cameron Petersen 6-3 and will take on Xavier's Christian Edison and Oliver Andersson in Sunday's 'B' consolation final.
The Louisville Invitational will conclude Sunday with doubles action at 9 a.m. and singles slated for an 11 a.m. start at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Admission is free.
