Cardinals meet with media in advance of upcoming season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's basketball head coach Jeff Walz and senior guard Asia Durr represented the program Tuesday morning at the ACC Women's Basketball Tipoff at the Sheraton/Le Méridien Charlotte.
During the session, Walz and Durr met with media members, such as ESPN lead analyst Rebecca Lobo, and took part in various photo shoots for online and social media content. The day closed out with a live Q&A session with ESPN's Christy Thomaskutty that was broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
Soundbites from the interview included:
Walz on this year's team: "We're a year older. A year more mature. We're really excited about what's coming back."
Durr on her role with the team: "My role for this year hasn't changed as much. I'm still the same player, but I'm more vocal. I help our freshmen out—I know how challenging it is coming from high school to college."
Walz on transfer Yacine Diop: "I'm excited. You bring a player that has experience. She's been in the ACC. She understands playing at a high level, what it's like and what's required. I'm expecting her to be able to give us a lot."
Durr on Louisville's home-court advantage: "Our home court – being in front our fans. Even when we're on the road playing games, our fans still travel. They're everywhere and I love it. We have the best fans in the country. It's a feeling I can't really describe."
