Cards sweep Raiders in season opener
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With six straight-sets singles victories, the University of Louisville women's tennis team opened the 2018 regular season with a strong 7-0 victory over Wright State University Saturday morning at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals (1-0) quickly made work of the Raiders (0-1), only surrendering 12 games during their singles victories. Prior to the singles portion, the Cards swiftly earned the doubles point with two wins, before holding off the Raiders at No. 2 to complete the sweep.

At No. 3 doubles, Aleksandra Mally and Raven Neely topped Luisa Pelayo and Madison Riley, 6-1, before Mariana Humberg and Abbie Pahz sealed the point with a 6-2 victory against Karoline Haller and Grace Whitney at first position. In the remaining matchup, Tiffany Huber and Ariana Rodriguez fended off Jillian Milano and Haily Morgan for a 7-5 triumph.

In the singles round, Neely soon added to the Cards' margin with a 6-0, 6-1 result against Milano in fifth position, followed by Humberg's 6-0, 6-2 win over Morgan at No. 2. Pahz then clinched the victory for Louisville at third position with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Riley. At No. 1, Mally was decisive with a 6-1, 6-1 contest against Haller, with Rodriguez (6-1, 6-1) and Huber (6-2, 6-1) closing out the match.
