Cardinals return to action against the Hurricanes
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Coming off of a 2-1 loss to No. 23 Florida State, the University of Louisville Women's soccer team looks to bounce back as they continue ACC play against Miami Sunday at 1:00. The Cardinals stand with a 6-4-0 overall record and a 0-2-0 ACC record going into the matchup.
Freshman midfielder Emina Ekic still leads the pack with five goals and one assist for 11 points this season. Sophomore Allison Whitfield stays second in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points.
Goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos has a 1.24 goals against average through the first 10 matches. The redshirt freshman has recorded 24 saves with three shutouts this season.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 18th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to four NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING MIAMI
Miami enters the match with an overall record of 4-3-0 and a league record of 0-1-0. The Hurricanes are going into their sixth straight road game coming off of a 1-0 loss to No. 11 Virginia.
Senior forward Ronnie Johnson leads the Hurricanes with four goals and one assist for nine points this season. With seven total points this season, sophomore midfielder Kristina Fisher is second in team scoring with one goal and five assists. Redshirt junior goalkeeper, Phallon Tullis-Joyce records a 0.71 goals against average with three shutouts in seven games this season.
Mary-Frances Monroe enters her fifth season as the head coach for the Hurricanes coming off of a 10-8-1 record in the 2016 season.
