- Louisville's defense held Kent State to three points and six first downs in the first half.
- The Cardinals' totaled 14 tackles for loss, the most since achieving 15 versus Boston College on Oct. 24, 2015.
- Louisville averaged 9.5 yards per play, the most since a 10.4 yard average at Syracuse on Sept. 9, 2016. The performance against Kent State ranks as the 10th highest in school history.
- Kent State was stifled to 2.5 yards per play. The 150 yards total offense is the lowest achieved by an opponent since Boston College mustered 79 on Oct. 24, 2015.
- Kent State had two completions in the game, the fewest since Southern Miss went 2 of 9 on Sept. 29, 2012.
PLAYER NOTES
- Lamar Jackson played three quarters and finished the game with 333 yards of total offense. He completed 18-of-22 passes for 299 yards and two scores, while rushing eight times for 34 yards and one score.
- Jackson broke the UofL record for TD responsibility, accounting for his 88th career touchdown to pass the mark previously held by Chris Redman (87, 1996-99).
- Jackson has been responsible for 530 career points in his time at UofL, two scores shy of breaking Chris Redman's school mark (536, 1996-99).
- Jackson has 300 yards of total offense for the 18th time in his career, surpassing Brian Brohm for second most 300-yard games at UofL.
- Jackson moved into the top 10 on the ACC career list for total offense with 9,638 combined yards rushing and passing. He is 350 shy of passing Teddy Bridgewater (9,987, 2011-13) for third on the school's career list.
- Four of Jackson's completions went for more than 20 yards, including a game-high 69-yard strike to Jordan Davis on the first play of the game. It was his third pass of the season that went at least 60 yards.
- Jackson's 81.8 completion percentage is a career high and the best by a UofL quarterback since Teddy Bridgewater went 25 of 29 against USF on Oct. 26, 2013 (minimum 10 completions)
- With his two rushing scores, Jackson has 37 for his career. He needs three more to pass Michael Bush (39, 2003-06).
- Jackson extended his school record for 350-yard games of total offense with is 16th.
- Jackson boosted his rushing yardage total to 2,868, extending his lead in the ACC record book for rushing yards by a quarterback. He remains third on the school's career list, 91 yards shy of passing Nathan Poole (2,958, 1975-88) for second.
- Seth Dawkins tied a career high with four receptions for a career-best 75 yards and one touchdown.
- Malik Williams recorded his first career two-rushing touchdown game, finishing the contest with nine carries for 47 yards.
- Trumaine Washington logged his seventh career interception, returning it 37 yards in the first quarter for the score. It is the second pick-6 of his career.
- Dorian Etheridge paced the Cardinals for the second time this season in tackles, finishing with a season-high nine.
- Etheridge, Trevon Young, James Hearns, Jonathan Greenard, and TreSean Smith each registered two tackles for loss.
- Greenard had two sacks for 17 yards, giving him a team-high and career-best five on the season.
- Javonte Bagley had two catches for 31 yards, including his first career touchdown.
- Jawon Pass made his first collegiate appearance, completing 5-of-8 passes for 75 yards.
- Colin Wilson received the first carry of his career in the game, toting the ball three times for 33 yards. He also had one reception for eight yards.
- Colin Wilson's 33 yards rushing are the most by a UofL true freshman in his first game at running back since Anthony Allen had 48 yards versus Kentucky in 2006.
- True freshman Caleb Chandler and Kemari Averett made their first career appearances, becoming the ninth and 10th true freshmen to play this season.
- Cornerback Russ Yeast, linebacker London Iakopo, and defensive lineman Henry Famurewa made their first career starts, while Tobias Little appeared in his first career game. Geron Christian earned his 30th-consecutive start.
