
Tennis Falls to No. 28 NC State

Cards score upset of nationally ranked player at No. 1
Despite a win over a nationally-ranked singles player, the University of Louisville Cardinals fell 5-2 to No. 28-ranked NC State in the final regular season match of the year in Raleigh.
The Cardinals dropped the doubles point when the No. 13-ranked pair of Martina Frantova and Anna Rogers defeated Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg 6-4 at the No. 1 spot. The Wolfpack clinched the point when No. 3 pair of Tayla Stenta and Adriana Reami beat Aleksandra Mally and Olivia Boesing 6-3.
The Cards pushed back in singles when Mariana Humberg tied the score at one with a 6-2, 6-0 score over Claudia Wiktorin at No. 3. The Pack retook the lead when the No. 4 player, Adriana Reami beat Abbie Pahz 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. The Cards then dropped the No. 2 slot when Anna Rogers beat Elle Stokes 5-6, 6-4, 6-2. But Aleksandra Mally showed spunk when she defeated No. 73 Martina Frantova in three sets at No. 1 (3-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4. But the Cards could not sustain the comeback to fall 5-2.
The Cardinals await their pairings in the ACC Tournament that is set to start next week in Rome, Georgia.
