Women's Tennis Falls to No. 15 Duke

Cards bow out 7-0.
The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 15-ranked Duke Friday night in Durham, N.C.

The Cardinals dropped the doubles point before falling in all six singles slots, four of which were nationally ranked.

The No. 2 doubles team of Chalena Scholl and Alyssa Smith beat Cardinals Elle Stokes and Jessie Paul 6-2 at No. 2. The No. 45 ranked Duke pair of Meible Chi and Kaitlyn McCarthy beat Cards Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg 6-4 at No. 1 to clinch the point.

The Cardinals fell 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles when Elle Stokes bowed to No. 36-ranked Meible Chi. Next to fall was UofL's Aleksandra Mally, who was defeated 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 to No. 85-ranked Samantha Harris. The Blue Devils clinched the match when Ellyse Hamlin beat Ariana Rodriguez 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6.

The Cardinals head to NC State for a date with the Wolfpack on Sunday at 11 a.m. in Raleigh. NC State is currently fifth in the ACC standings with a conference record of 6-6 and an overall record of 17-8. The Wolfpack were on a seven-match win streak before dropping their last match to Virginia Tech last weekend.
