Women's Tennis Hits the Road for Final ACC Regular Season Matchups

Cards head to Duke and NC State
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis closes out its regular season on the road this weekend at No. 15 Duke and NC State. The Cardinals face the Blue Devils at 5 p.m. on Friday and the Wolfpack at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Louisville enters Friday's match against Duke with a record of 14-10 and a conference record of 3-9. The Cardinals broke their five-match losing streak with a win of Virginia on Sunday. Louisville's 13 wins, marks the most wins that the program has achieved since 2013. Louisville currently has its best record that it has had in the ACC since joining in 2014. Junior, Mariana Humberg was one of three Cardinals to get a singles wins last weekend, bringing her record to 15-7 and her conference record to 5-6.

Duke is currently 17-3 on the season, with a conference record of 11-0, and is currently second in the ACC. The Blue Devils are set to square off against two of the nation's top-10 schools, facing No. 3 North Carolina on Wednesday, and No. 6 Georgia Tech on Sunday. Duke is on a 14-match win streak, and has four ranked singles players, and two ranked doubles teams. The doubles team of Meible Chi/Kaitlyn McCarthy is ranked No. 45 in the nation with a record of 10-5 and a 2-2 record against ranked opponents. Freshman, Meible Chi, is currently ranked No. 36 in the nation with a 29-11 overall record, having beaten eight of then nations ranked singles players.

NC State is currently fifth in the ACC standings with a conference record of 6-6 and an overall record of 17-8. The Wolfpack were on a seven-match win streak before dropping their last match to Virginia Tech on Saturday. The doubles team of Martina Frantova/Anna Rogers is ranked No. 13 in the nation with a record of 22-1, having only lost to a nationally ranked doubles team. NC State has only one girl ranked in singles play, with senior, Martina Frantova ranked No. 73 in the nation. Frantova is the only senior on the team, with a record of 20-17 on the season, and is 5-9 against nationally ranked opponents.
