LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville Golf Club has named Denny Thompson as general manager, Vice-President/Director of Athletics Tom Jurich announced.
Thompson, who has over 25 years of managing golf courses in Louisville, will be responsible for day-to-day club operations, which include sales and marketing, member relations and services, financial administration, human resources, programming and event planning, and facility management and maintenance.
A Louisville, Ky., native, Thompson comes to the Cardinals after a short stint as the general manager at the Oldham County Country Club, where he managed a $1 million club renovation before serving a three-year term as the GM at the South Park Country Club from 2015-17.
"I am excited to begin working with Denny," UofL men's golf head coach Mark Crabtree said. "He has rich roots as a Cardinal, having been a former player in the program, as well as a lifelong Cardinal supporter. We all look forward to his leadership in taking the ULGC to the next level as one of the premier golf clubs in the Louisville area."
Thompson enjoyed two extensive stints at two of the top golf courses in Louisville, managing the Audubon Country Club from 2004-2015 and serving as the Director of Club Operations and head Golf Professional at the Glen Oaks Country Club from 1993-2004.
"We are excited to have Denny join and lead the team at the ULGC," UofL women's golf head coach Courtney Trimble said. "Denny brings many years of experience as a successful general manager and we know his passion and work ethic will help ULGC continue to become a premier golf club. It is wonderful to have one of our former Cardinal golfers working so closely with our teams and members of the ULGC."
Thompson, who was of the member of the Doss High state championship teams in 1975 and 1976, attended UofL, where he was a four-year member of the men's golf team.
