Hankenson and Fox Set School Records at the Texas Relays on Thursday

Hankenson and Fox shatter their previous multi-event school records
AUSTIN, Texas – Holly Hankenson and Eric Fox set two new school records in the multi-events on Thursday at the Texas Relays. Hankenson and Fox both finished ninth in the heptathlon and decathlon, respectively.
Hankenson finished with a total of 5,556 points, breaking her previous school record of 5,333 points set last season at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. She started the day with a fourth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.92/19-5.25. In the javelin throw, Hankenson finished 18th with a toss of 29.85/97-11. She wrapped up the day with a second place finish in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:09.83.
Fox finished the day with a total of 7,233 points, breaking his previous record of 7,032 points set last season at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. He began the day in the 110 meter hurdles, finishing 13th with a personal best time of 15.53. In the discus, Fox finished 13th with a throw of 34.89/114-5.
Fox finished second in the pole vault clearing a new outdoor personal best of 5.10/16-8.75. The mark is a new outdoor school record, passing the previous record of 5.05/16-6.75 set in 2011. He then finished seventh in the javelin with a personal best throw of 54.08/177-5. In his final event of the day, Fox finished seventh in the 1500 meters with a personal best time of 4:41.59.
Several Cardinals will continue competition tomorrow. The men's 4x400m relay will run in the preliminaries while Raven Grant will compete in the 100 meters and Hankenson in the long jump.
