Women's Golf's Cason Tied for Third, Team Takes Ninth at Briar’s Creek Invitational

Olivia Cason shot a 3-under-par 213 and tied for third.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Olivia Cason shot a 3-under-par 213 and led the University of Louisville women's golf team to a ninth-place showing on Tuesday at the Briar's Creek Invitational in Johns Island, S.C.
The sophomore had remarkable first- and second-round performances at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek. She opened the event with a 4-under-par 68 and followed with a 3-under-par 69 – both of which took place on the first day of competition. The first-round score is a career-low round.
Cason, who logged an eagle during the two-day trip, capped the event shooting a 4-over-par 76. She finished in a three-way tie for third out of the 93-player field. Florida's Maria Torres won the individual crown with a 7-under-par 209.
Collectively, Louisville fired a 15-over-par 879.
Jacqueline Twitty also secured a top-15 showing for the Cardinals. She tied a season-best round a 3-under-par 69 in the second and finished with an even-par 216 to tie for 14th.
Freshman Lauren Hartlage didn't stray far from Twitty, with a 3-over-par 219. She climbed five spots after the final round, tying for 22nd.
Molly Skapik rounded out the top four with an 18-over-par 234.
The Cardinals return to action for their final regular-season event March 31-April 2 at the Clemson Invitational.
