
Hartlage Earns Runner-Up Honors, Women’s Golf Finishes Third at Hurricane Invitational

Lauren Hartlage finished the tournament with a 1-under-par to take second.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Lauren Hartlage shot a 1-under-par 71, earning a runner-up finish, and the University of Louisville women's golf team placed third on Wednesday at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla.
Hartlage was part of a three-way tie for first entering the final round with a 3-under-par. She finished the three-day event at 4-under-par 212, her second time below par in a 54-hole event. She fell two strokes short of her first collegiate victory, with Northwestern's Hannah Kim earning the victory following a 5-under-par 67 in the third round.
The freshman, Hartlage compiled another practically flawless round. She tallied two birdies and just one bogey, finishing 54 holes with 39 pars for the second most in the field. The Elizabethtown, Ky., native improved her season-scoring average to 73.09.
Collectively, Louisville shot a 9-over-par 297 on the final day. The Cardinals' three-day score of 7-over-par 871 is a season best and is tied for the eighth-best total in school history. Louisville put together the second-best average on par-5 holes in the 18-team field.
Molly Skapik tied for 13th, her third top-20 tournament showing this season. She shot a 3-over-par 219, her second-best three-day total. Olivia Cason capped the event tied for 20th behind a 5-over-par 221. Louise Oxner rounded out the top-four scorers with a 7-over-par 223 to tie for 33rd.
The Cardinals return to action for the Briar's Creek Invitational from March 20-21 in Johns Island, S.C.
