
Women’s Golf in First at Hurricane Invitational

The Cardinals finished the first round of play with a 2-under-par 286.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's golf team compiled its best single-round score this year and sits in first place on Monday after the opening round at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla.
The Cardinals, competing in a field with five other top-50 programs, shot a 2-under-par 286 at the Biltmore Golf Course. The team holds a three-stroke over Northwestern heading into the second of three days of competition that features a 15-team field.
Olivia Cason is tied for first after tying a career best with a 3-under-par 69. She had three birdies, two on par-5 holes, and finished the day without a bogey. The sophomore started the tournament with six-consecutive pars before her first birdie on No. 7.
Freshman Lauren Hartlage also had a strong showing, shooting a 1-under-par 71 to move into a tie for seventh. After two bogeys through the first five holes, she settled down and scored an eagle on No. 7, a par-5, 465-yard hole. She capped the day with birdies on two of her final four holes.
Junior Molly Skapik, who is tied for 12th, logged an even-par 72. She registered a team-high four birdies. Senior Louise Oxner rounded out the top-four scorers, carding a 2-over-par 74 and is tied for 26th.
Louisville is scheduled to tee off Tuesday beginning at 8:10 a.m.
