Red Team Prevails 94-80 in the First Scrimmage

Adel finished with 32 points for the Red while King finishes with 30 for the White
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The University of Louisville Men's Basketball team played the first of two intrasquad scrimmages on Friday night at the KFC Yum! Center. The Red team defeated the White team 94-80. Deng Adel led the Red team with 32 points and 13 rebounds. V.J. King led the White team with 30 points while freshman Malik Williams had 17 rebounds.
Divided into a red team and a white team, the red team led the first half by a small margin of 48-45. Adel led the red team with 22 points in the first half followed by Ray Spalding with nine. Spalding led the red team with 10 rebounds while Adel trailed closely with seven. The team shot 44.2 percent from the field with 33.3 percent from the three-point line.
Leading the white team in the first half, King tallied 19 points going 7-for-10 while Jordan Nwora racked up 10 points. Williams led the white team with eight rebounds in the first half. The team shot 45.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from arc.
In the second half, Spalding led the red team with 13 points. Adel closely followed with 10. Stephen Enoch and Spalding each grabbed six rebounds for in the second half. The red team shot 58.1 percent with 37.5 percent from the three-point line.
King led the white team in scoring with 11 points in the second half going 5-for-9 while Quentin Snider closely trailed with 10. Williams grabbed nine rebounds for the white team followed by Snider with three in the second half. The white team shot 34.2 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from the arc.
The Red team finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field and 35 percent from the three-point line. The White team finished shooting 39.7 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from behind the arc.
Sophomore guard Ryan McMahon suffered bruised ribs on his left side in the Cards' scrimmage Friday. He'll be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
The Cardinals will be back in action with another Red-White scrimmage on October 27 at 7:00 in the KFC Yum! Center.
