Cards win second match of doubleheader at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center

The University of Louisville's women's tennis team took the doubles point and then swept all six positions in singles to beat Murray State 7-0 Saturday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

"Today was a good day," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "We accomplished what we wanted to as a whole and although we had a little lapse in doubles against this good Murray State team. I told them to show me a different team in singles and they accomplished that. This team is old enough and mature enough to control their level. Everything considered, we were really good today and moving in the right direction. We are on a good path right now."

The Cardinals won the doubles point, winning two of three positions. Louisville's No.1 team of Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg topped Claire Chang and Alina Schibol 6-4. Finishing second, the Murray State sister duo of Anja and Sara Loncarevic defeated the Cardinals' Sena Suswam and Oliva Boesing with a score of 7-5. Adriana Rodriguez and Jessie Paul at No. 3 won their match against Sara Bjork and Hannah with a final score of 6-3 to clinch.

Louisville carried over the momentum into the singles competition. No. 1 Sena Suswam got the victory over Claire Chang 6-3, 6-2. At No. 2, junior Abbie Pahz knocked off Anja Loncarevic 6-1, 6-0. Mariana Humberg defeated Sara LONCAREVIC 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 3 spot. No. 4 Aleksandra Mally beat Alina Schilbol 7-0, 6-1. At No. 5 Olivia Boesing pushed passed Sara BJORK 6-1, 6-3.
