TEAM
- Louisville won the toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.
- Louisville's captains for the game were Lamar Jackson, Tobijah Hughley, DeAngelo Brown, Keith Kelsey, Brandon Radcliff, and Devante Peete
- The Cardinals are 54-38-6 all-time in season-openers, including a 13-4 mark since 2000. When opening the year at home, Louisville boasts a 35-17-3 mark.
- Overall, head coach Bobby Petrino boasts a 101-39 career collegiate record. At UofL, he is 59-18.

OFFENSE
- Louisville finished the game with 70 points, the second time reaching the plateau under head coach Bobby Petrino. The Cardinals' previously reached the mark under their leader against Cincinnati in 2004.
- Louisville's 28 points in the opening quarter tied a school record for most points in the first quarter in school history.
- Including the victory against Charlotte, over the last six games, the Cardinals have totaled 75 points in the opening quarter.
- Louisville made quick work in getting into the end zone, scoring nine of its 10 touchdowns in nine or less plays. The Cardinals' final score lasted 10 plays over 75 yards.
- Louisville was 7-for-7 in the red zone, the best performance since going 9-for-9 against Murray State on Sept. 6, 2014.
- The Cardinals' six passing touchdowns in the first half set a school record.
- Louisville's eight passing touchdowns is a team record.
- Louisville registered 38 first downs in the victory, the second-highest total in school history. It only trails the 1998 team's 39, accomplished against East Carolina.
- The Cardinals accounted for 663 yards, the most since the 2007 team racked up 729 against Middle Tennesee. Louisville's total in the victory over Charlotte is the ninth most since records are available, dating back to 1951.
- Louisville's 56 points is the most in the first half in school history, and with Louisville leading 56-0 at the break, it's the largest first-half advantage in program history.
- Louisville set a school record for most team touchdown passes in a game with eight, breaking the previous mark of six against Ohio in 2013.
- Lamar Jackson is only the second quarterback over the last 20 seasons in NCAA Division I history to throw for six touchdowns and rush for at least two in one game.
- Jackson finished the game with six passing touchdowns, two rushing, and 405 all-purpose yards (119 rushing, 286 passing). His eight touchdowns are an individual UofL record. Jackson's six passing scores tied a single-game school record, first set by Chris Redman in 1998 against East Carolina.
- With Jackson's touchdown in the first quarter, Louisville extended its consecutive-game scoring streak to 200 games, which dates back to the 2000 season.
- Jackson scored on a 36-yard rush in the first quarter, giving the Cardinals their first touchdown of the year. The run pushed Jackson past the 1,000-yard mark for his career.
- Jackson, who eclipsed 100-yards rushing in the first quarter and finished with 119, has surpassed the plateau in six of his 13 career games.
- For three-straight games, dating back to the win over Kentucky, Jackson has surpassed the 100-yard plateau passing and rushing.
- Jackson was responsible for a school-record 13 consecutive touchdowns before fellow quarterback Kyle Bolin snapped the streak in the third quarter with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Traveon Samuel.
- Sixteen UofL players caught at least one pass in the game, led by Jamari Staples' four catches for 83 yards.
- Reggie Bonnafon hauled in his first career receiving touchdown in the victory. He finished the game with two catches for 33 yards.
- Brandon Radcliff scored his 21st career touchdown at UofL in the second quarter, with this being his first receiving score. The running back capped the game with three carries for 22 yards and one catch for 16 yards.
DEFENSE
- Louisville held Charlotte to 0-for-13 on third-down conversions, the best performance since holding Boston College to a 1-for-14 performance in 2015.
- The Cardinals shut out the 49ers in the first half, limiting Charlotte to just 92 total yards.
- Stacy Thomas led the charge on defense, finishing with a game-tying high seven tackles.
- Chucky Williams, who had six tackles, was one of four players to earn a sack in the victory.
- James Hearns recorded his first career forced fumble in the first quarter. The junior had four stops in the game, including one sack.
- Zykiesis Cannon, Devonte' Fields, and Ronald Walker each were credited with a pass breakup.
