Worrell Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Senior swim star now eligible for Academic All-American Award
The University of Louisville's All-American swimmer, Honda Award winner and world record holder, Kelsi Worrell, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 2 At-Large team. She will be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. She earned second team Academic All-American honors a year ago.

She was been named the 2015-16 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlined the All-ACC Academic Women's Swimming & Diving Team.

An exercise science major from Mt. Holly, New Jersey, Worrell captured two individual national championships in the 100 fly and 200 fly at the 2016 NCAA Championships, as she set the American and NCAA records with her 100 fly swim. She also earned All-America honors in the 50 freestyle, and the 200 and 400 medley relays. At the ACC Championships, Worrell was named the Championship Most Valuable Swimmer after she won five medals – including four gold – and set four records in the process.

After the season concluded, Worrell was named the Honda Sport Award winner for swimming and diving and the ACC Women's Swimmer of the Year..

To be nominated for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution..
