Freshman Taylor Stone will travel to Germany with USA Field Hockey U-19 team
The University of Louisville's Taylor Stone has been selected to USA Field Hockey's Under-19 National Team's Germany Tour roster. The team will travel to Bad Breuznach, Germany to play three matches against Germany's Junior Team from May 11-17 at the Bad Kreuznach Hockey Club.
Â
"Taylor has been selected amongst an elite group of women at the USA underage level. Over the last year she has worked diligently on every aspect of her game and she has been justly rewarded for her efforts," said UofL head coach Justine Sowry. "Representing your country is a great honor and I am very proud that Taylor is not only representing USA but also Louisville Field Hockey and the University of Louisville. This international exposure will be incredibly valuable toward her growth as an individual and will no doubt make an impact throughout the upcoming fall season."
Â
Stone, a freshman defender from Herndon, Va., missed part of the 2015 season due to injury, but played in 16 games with eight starts. She was instrumental in the Cardinals' defense which posted nine shutouts while helping Louisville to a 13-7 overall record and its second straight NCAA appearance.
Â
In preparation for the upcoming tour, the USA Junior Field Hockey teams have participated in four training camps since December. The purpose of the tour is to compete against international teams to get elite level exposure and to build on techniques and concepts they have been working on during training camp weekends.
