LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville sophomores Myisha Hines-Allen and Mariya Moore were named Women's Basketball Coaches' Association All-America honorable mentions on Saturday.
The duo earned first team all-Atlantic Coast Conference honors – from the Blue Ribbon Panel and league's 15 head coaches – and recently was selected for WBCA all-Region I honors.
Hines-Allen, the Atlantic Coast Conference's Blue Ribbon Player of the Year, is a finalist for the prestigious Wade Trophy, awarded to the nation's most outstanding NCAA Division I women's basketball player. She has accumulated other postseason awards, including Associated Press All-America honorable mention, ACC all-Tournament first team honors, College Sports Madness first team All-America, and espnW All-America third team.
Hines-Allen paced the No. 8 Cardinals (26-8) and ranked third in the ACC in scoring (17.6) and rebounding (8.4). She also connected on a team-best 54.7 percent of her shots, third in the league, and ranked in the top 10 in three other categories: seventh in free throw percentage (80.0), second in defensive rebounds (5.4), and tied for seventh in offensive rebounds (3.0).
The Montclair, N.J., native has pushed her way into the school's record books this year. Her 581 points are the ninth most in a season in program history and her 246 field goals are fifth most in a single season. Her 277 rebounds are ninth most in a season, while her average is the best since Monique Reid averaged 9.2 from 2009-10.
Moore also has been a pivotal component of the Cardinals' success this year. She is 15th in the ACC in scoring (14.1), fifth in assists (4.4), 11th in free throw percentage (76.7), sixth in 3-point field goals per game (2.3) and assist-turnover ratio (1.6).
The Hercules, Calif., native also made her marks in the school's annals this year. She finished the 2015-16 campaign with 77 3-pointers, seventh most in a single season, and her 125 free throws – one more than she made as a freshman – are eighth most in a season.
Including Hines-Allen and Moore, the Cardinals return all five starters for next season in addition to all-ACC freshman team selection Asia Durr. Louisville also welcomes the No. 6-ranked recruiting class in the country, according to espnW HoopGurlz.
