Head coach Bobby Petrino pleased with team's showing on the first day of spring ball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spring is definitely in the air, especially for the University of Louisville football team who opened up spring practice on Tuesday afternoon under windy conditions in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Head coach Bobby Petrino, who is beginning his seventh season at the helm of the Cardinals, was pleased with the team's start on the first day of drills.
"It was a good day," Petrino said. "We're definitely ahead of where we were last year. I think having a veteran team back is beneficial because we knew how to line up and didn't have to go back and teach a lot of things to our players. We have a lot of work to do, but I like how we practiced out there this afternoon."
The Cardinals worked out in the stadium for a little over two hours in shorts and helmets, but there was a lot of excitement for the players on the first day of practice.
"It was good to get back out there," senior running back Brandon Radcliff said. "There were a lot of players out there competing hard and working to win a position. It was fun to be back on the field with my teammates."
The Cardinals will return to spring practice on Wednesday afternoon at 3:50 p.m.
