
Track And Field Finishes Second Day of USF Bulls Invitational with Five Event Wins

Cardinals wrap up competition with five wins, and nine total event wins
TAMPA, FLA. - The University of Louisville track and field team finished the second day at the USF Bulls Invitational with five event wins. Overall, the Cardinals finished with nine event wins over the two days of competition.
"As a whole, the weekend was a very strong start to the outdoor season," said head coach Dale Cowper. "Steve Wade, Mara Zielonka, Ernest Kibet, and both 4x400m relays were able to pick up wins in their respective events. We have some areas to improve upon but this was a good starting point for the outdoor season."
Freshman Mara Zielonka won her first collegiate event in the high jump. She cleared the bar with a mark of 1.75m/5-08.75. Steve Wade opened up the season with a win in the shot put. Wade finished with a personal best mark of 17.33m/56-10.25.
Ernest Kibet opened up his final outdoor season with a win in the 1500m run. He crossed the finish line with a time of 3:56.35. Matt Stephenson finished second with a new personal best time of 3:56.73 while Jonathan Reynolds finished third with a time of 3:58.18.
The 4x400m relay teams gave Louisville a sweep in the event. The women's team of Raven Grant, Bre'Yana Wash, Alexis Murry, and Sydney Hill finished with a time of 3:48.88 for the win. The men's team of Martice Moore, Antoine Keys, Andrew Nsuk and Carlos Coleman crossed the finish line with a time of 3:14.48.
Other highlights of the day were in the women's 100m dash. Grant finished second with a time of 11.69. Junior Kayla Tyson finished third with a time of 11.75. Bradley started the outdoor season with a second place finish in the 400m with a time of 56.69.
On the men's side, Keys finished second in the 400m with a time of 47.93. Teague Peck finished second in the 800m with a personal best time of 1:49.87. Damar Robinson finished second in the triple jump with a season best mark of 15.50m/50-10.25. While freshman Martice Moore finished third in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.42.
The Cardinals will be back in action next weekend as they travel to the Raleigh Relays.
