Cards Fall to Wake Forest

Cards move to 6-5
The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to 27th-ranked Wake Forest, 6-1, indoors at the Wake Forest Complex on Friday.Â
The Cardinals dropped to 6-5 and 0-3 in league competition. The Demon Deacons improved to 10-1 on the year and leveled their ACC record at 1-1.

The doubles competition was tightly contested in the early going, but the Deacons emerged with wins on all three courts. Kimmy Guerin and Anna Ulyashchenko were the first to finish, holding off Abbie Pahz and Ariana Rodriguez at No. 1 by a score of 6-4.Â
Luisa Fernandez and Andrea Retolaza Andrade locked down the first point of the match by doubling up Jessie Paul and Elle Stokes, 6-3, at No. 3 and Emma Davis and Samantha Asch completed the sweep by taking the No. 2 spot by the same score.Â
In singles, Emma Davis beat Ola Mally, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Fernandez beat Olivia Boesing a 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot.Â
Ulyashchenko clinched the win by downing Ariana Rodriguez, 6-2, 6-3, in the third flight.
Joanna Zalewski beat Elle Stokes, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 4 position. No. 82-ranked Kimmy Guerin   column and made it 6-0 with a 10-7 match tiebreaker win over Sena Suswam at No. 1.Â
The Cardinals got their lone win at No. 5, where Samantha Asch dropped 6-4, 6-4 sets to Pahz.Â
