Cardinals Fall to No. 32 Notre Dame

The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 to ACC foe No. 32-ranked Notre Dame Sunday at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
The Irish (7-3, 2-0 ACC) won the doubles point for the third straight match, picking up victories on Courts 2 and 3 to take the 1-0 lead over the Cardinals. Junior Jane Fennelly and sophomore Allison Miller beat Elle Stokes and Ariana Rodriguez 6-0 at the No. 3 slot, while senior Julie Vrabel and junior Mary Closs defeated Olivia Boesing and Sena Suswam 6-3 at No. 2 to secure the point.
The Cardinals then dropped five of six singles matches. Monica Robinson gave the Irish their first point with 6-1, 6-1 over UofL's Ola Mally at No. 2, followed by sophomore Brooke Broda's 6-1, 6-2 win over Olivia Boesing at No. 5. No. 44-ranked  Quinn Gleason, clinched the win for the Irish at 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 over Sena Suswam.
Mary Closs beat Ariana Rodriguez 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4, while Allison Miller outlasted Jessie Lynn Paul in a 7-5, 6-1 decision.
The Cardinals got a point back in the final remaining singles match at No. 6, as Abbie Pahz defeated Jane Fennelly 2-6, 6-3, 10-3.
UofL (6-4, 0-2 ACC) head to Wake Forest Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. and then on to Virginia Feb. 28 for an 11 a.m. match.
