No. 7 Women's Basketball Faces No. 17 Kentucky at Home on Sunday

The Cardinals and Wildcats take the court at the KFC Yum! Center at 2 p.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 7 University of Louisville women's basketball team plays its third top-25 opponent in as many games, when it faces 17th-ranked Kentucky on Sunday in the Battle of the Bluegrass in the KFC Yum! Center.
The Dec. 4 game begins at 2 p.m. on ACC Network Extra, with Don Russell (play-by-play) and Sara White (analyst) on the call. Louisville's radio broadcast can be heard on WKRD 790 AM, featuring Nick Curran (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson (analyst).
Fans are encouraged to wear red for the Red Out, and those who display their Kroger Plus card receive $3 discounted tickets to the game.
The Cardinals (6-2) are coming off a 78-72 loss at home to fifth-ranked Maryland on Thursday in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Louisville shot 39.2 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from the charity stripe, and was outrebounded 48-35. The Cardinals erased a 10-point deficit in the second half and took a 64-62 advantage midway through the fourth quarter, but were unable to sustain the lead.
Asia Durr scored a team-high 20 points to go with a season-best seven rebounds, and Mariya Moore added 13 points. Myisha Hines-Allen scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half and added seven rebounds. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had a game-high 26 for Maryland.
Kentucky (6-1) earned its third-consecutive victory after defeating 12th-ranked Oklahoma 82-68 on Thursday in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Wildcats shot 49.2 percent from the field, including a 51.7 percent stint in the second half, and connected on 17-of-20 free throws for the game.
Makayla Epps scored a game-high 30 points on 12-of-19 shooting, Maci Morris added 19 points and eight rebounds, and Evelyn Akhator had 11 points. Makenzie Cann came off the bench and contributed 10 points, four boards, and three assists.
Epps is pacing the team in scoring at 19.0 per game and also boasts team highs in assists (36) and steals (11). Three other starters are averaging double figures in scoring: Akhator (16.0), who is producing 10.9 rebounds, Morris (12.0), and Taylor Murray (10.6).
Collectively, Kentucky is outscoring its foes by 20.4 points (78.4-58.0) and shooting 46.9 percent from the field. The Wildcats also boast a plus-4.1 turnover margin.
SERIES HISTORY – Kentucky vs. Louisville
Kentucky leads the all-time series 34-17, having won the last five meetings.
The Cardinals' last win at home over the Wildcats came in 2010, when Louisville posted a 78-52 victory on Dec. 5. Shoni Schimmel scored a game-high 26 points, and Becky Burke added 21, with both connecting on six 3-pointers apiece. Victoria Dunlap had 17 points and 23 rebounds for Kentucky, which was held to 28.2 percent shooting and turned the ball over 22 times.
The two programs met last year in Lexington, and Kentucky earned a 72-54 win. Briahanna Jackson had a team-high 18 points and eight rebounds, and Myisha Hines-Allen added 16 points and seven rebounds, but the Cardinals connected on 36.4 percent of their shots and were outrebounded 36-27. Makayla Epps hits 10-of-11 field goals en route to a 24-point performance.
