
No. 8 Women’s Basketball Faces South Dakota State Wednesday

The Cardinals and Jackrabbits are meeting for the first time in series history.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The eighth-ranked University of Louisville women's basketball team faces South Dakota State for the first time in series history, with the two teams meeting on Wednesday in the KFC Yum! Center at 7 p.m.
The Dec. 14 game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Louisville's radio broadcast can be heard on WKRD 790 AM, featuring Nick Curran (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson (analyst).
The Cardinals (8-2) have won their last two games, recently defeating Western Kentucky 68-61 on Sunday at home. Louisville held a 41-25 advantage on the glass, knocked down 10 3-pointers, and tallied 22 assists on 27 field goals.
Myisha Hines-Allen recorded her second double-double of the season, producing 16 points and 11 rebounds. Asia Durr added 16 points, connecting on a pair of timely 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Sydney Zambrotta logged a season-high 15 points, all in the first half. Briahanna Jackson collected a career-high 10 assists, giving her 26 over the last three games.
Through 10 games, Durr is pacing the Cardinals in scoring at 18.2 points and ranks second in the country with 39 3-pointers. Hines-Allen, now the team's second-leading scorer, is producing 12.0 points and 8.3 rebounds, while Mariya Moore is contributing 11.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists.
South Dakota State (8-2) has won four of its last five games – the only loss during that stretch came to Green Bay – after defeating George Washington 60-55 on Sunday. The Jackrabbits only hit 32.2 percent of their shots, but connected on 18 of 23 trips to the free throw line. The team also forced 20 turnovers and converted the possessions into 24 points.
Ellie Thompson and Kerri Young scored 13 points apiece in the victory, while fellow starters Clarissa Ober and Madison Guebert each added 11 points. Ena Viso was the only reserve who scored in the game, tallying six points.
Macy Miller, who missed the last game with a knee injury, is leading South Dakota State in scoring at 14.9 points per game on team-high 53.8 percent shooting. Guebert, who is averaging 13.7 points, has hit a team-high 32 3s and leads the program with 14 steals. Starters Thompson (11.0) and Kerri Young (10.2) each are producing double-digit points.
Collectively, South Dakota State is outscoring its opponents by 13.0 points, while holding foes to 27.4 percent from 3-point range. The team is averaging 7.3 treys and turning the ball over 13.8 times per game.
Louisville vs. Summit League
Louisville has played only three teams from the Summit League's current configuration and boasts a 13-0 mark. The Cardinals are 4-0 against IPFW, 6-0 against IUPUI, and 3-0 versus Western Illinois.
