Cardinals Finish 1-2 in Championship Eight at Head of the Hooch

Louisville crews earn five top five finishes, including runner-up finish in championship four
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The University of Louisville rowing team swept the top two positions in the championship eight event and finished with five top five finishes overall during Saturday's Head of the Hooch regatta on the Tennessee River.
The Cardinals' varsity eight crew of Annie Pape (coxswain), Lucie Heranova, Kirsti Harrison, Sarah Podwojski, Callie McGowan, Erin Enk, Maddy Staubitz, Sophie Schulz and Rebecca Busk covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 16:30.9 to finish as the top boat in a field of 24 in the championship eight. Louisville's B crew of Kate Allport (coxswain), Kaitlin Ulbert, Leah Stump, Mary Waldman, Sally Rozumalski, Kylie Noltemeyer, Madeleine Chesney, Allison Zimmermann and Hannah Richardson earned the runner-up position with a time of 16:45.9.
In the championship four, the Louisville crew of Sarah Bower (coxswain), Heranova, Harrison, Richardson and Busk finished second in a field of 31 crews with a time of 18:15.0. The Cardinals also registered a pair of top five finishes in the doubles event as Claire Bahain and McGowan were third in the field of 19 at 19:47.8 while Abigail Davies and Riley Kerber were fourth at 20:10.9.
The Louisville rowing team will conclude its fall racing schedule next week at the Rivanna Romp, hosted by the University of Virginia on Nov. 13 in Earlysville, Virginia.
