
Jackson Tabbed One of 10 Manning Award Finalists

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville sophomore Lamar Jackson continues to garner national recognition as the talented quarterback has been named one of the 10 finalists for The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.|
Jackson, who also is a finalist for the Davey O'Brien and Maxwell Awards, finished the regular season by shattering the ACC and Louisville record books. The Pompano Beach native set an ACC and school marks by recording 51 total touchdowns, including a league record 21 on the ground and 30 through the air. He tied an ACC mark with eight touchdowns in a season-opening win over Charlotte, including equaling a school mark with six touchdown passes.
With 1,538 rushing yards, Jackson broke the ACC record for yards by a quarterback and also set the school's single-season rushing mark. He totaled a school-best eight 100-yard games, including a season-high 199 yards on the ground in a win over Syracuse on Sept. 9.
Through the air, Jackson accounted for 3,390 yards and totaled a pair of 400-yard passing games. In a 63-28 victory over the Orange, Jackson passed for 411 yards, however, surpassed that a few weeks later with a career-best 417 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Marshall.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.
