LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville senior center Tobijah Hughley earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team, the organization announced on Thursday.
The Lexington, Ky, has started 16-straight games at center for the Cardinals, who are leading the nation in scoring and total offense this season. In guiding the Cardinals to a 7-1 overall record, Hughley has helped the Cards rank 10th in the nation in rushing at 268.0 yards per game.
For his career, Hughley – a former walk-on -- earned a scholarship in 2014 and has appeared in 33 games over the last three seasons – including a starter in 16-straight games.
A sports administration major, Hughley was named Louisville's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015 and earned a spot on the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Team as a junior. He graduated with his degree last May, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports administration.
To be nominated for CoSIDA All-Academic Teams, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average at his current institution. Members of the Academic All-District First-Team advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
