
Fields Named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week

The senior recorded 3.0 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss in win over the Demon Deacons.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -University of Louisville senior Devonte Fields has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
The senior, who led the Cards with 11.0 sacks last season, was dominant in Louisville's 44-12 victory over Wake Forest last Saturday – the team's fifth-straight win.
In holding the Demon Deacons to 214 yards of total offense and 73 yards on the ground, the Cardinals held the Demon Deacons to an average of 1.5 yards per carry. Personally, Fields tied a career-high with 3.0 sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss – limiting Wake Forest to just 1.5 yards a carry
Fields established a career-high nine tackles in helping the Cardinals notch their fifth-straight win to improve to 9-1 overall and finish 7-1 in the ACC – their best mark since joining the league.
Playing in nine games this season, Fields has been credited with 39 tackles and is second on the squad with 5.0 sacks, while also notching 7.0 tackles for loss on the nation's sixth-ranked defense.
The Cards return to action on Thursday night in a nationally televised game versus Houston at 8 p.m.
