
Women’s Basketball Continues ACC Play on Sunday at Georgia Tech

The Cardinals defeated the Yellow Jackets last year in the first meeting between the programs.
ATLANTA – The University of Louisville women's basketball team continues ACC play on Sunday, when it plays at Georgia Tech in McCamish Pavilion at 2 p.m.
The Jan. 3 contest will air on ESPN3, with Brandon Gaudin (play-by-play) and Angel Gray (analyst) on the call. The radio broadcast will be available on WKRD 790 AM in Louisville, with Matt Andrews (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson (analyst) calling the action.
The game marks a homecoming for freshman and top-rated recruit from the 2015 class Asia Durr. The Douglasville, Ga., native had a nationally recognized career during her time at St. Pius X Catholic School. A McDonald's All-American and two-time Miss Georgia Basketball recipient, Durr finished her career with 2,764 points, shooting better than 50 percent from the field, 706 rebounds, 254 assists, 266 steals, and 75 blocks. The point total is most in school history for both genders.
Louisville (9-5, 1-0 ACC) earned its sixth-consecutive victory on Friday after posting a 79-69 victory over No. 15 Florida State. It is the Cardinals' second win over an Associated Press top-25 team this year. Louisville shot 47.5 percent from the floor and converted 24 Florida State turnovers into 30 points.
Notably, Louisville's defense held the Seminoles to a season-worst six points in the first quarter.
Mariya Moore paced the Cardinals with a team-high 20 points to go with eight assists and five rebounds. Three players finished with double-digit points: Briahanna Jackson (15), Myisha Hines-Allen (13), and Arica Carter (11). Cortnee Walton totaled nine points and 11 rebounds, eight boards on the offensive end.
Through 14 games, Hines-Allen is pacing the Cardinals in scoring (15.1) and rebounding (7.7) and is shooting a team-high 52.9 percent from the floor. Jackson is second in scoring (14.7), with a team-best 37 steals. Moore, who rounds out the top three scorers at 13.6 points, has dished out a team-leading 72 assists.
Georgia Tech (10-4, 0-1) had its five-game winning streak snapped after it lost its conference opener. The Yellow Jackets saw their first-quarter lead quickly evaporate, falling 85-76 to third-ranked Notre Dame on Wednesday in South Bend, Ind.
The Yellow Jackets hit 48.3 percent of their shots and turned the ball over just 14 times, but the Fighting Irish connected on 11 treys and went 16-for-18 from the charity stripe.
Ciani Cryor came off the bench and scored a team-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Aaliyah Whiteside and Roddreka Rogers each added 17 points, with Whiteside also pulling down nine rebounds.
On the season, Whiteside is pacing the Yellow Jackets in scoring (19.9) and rebounding (7.6) and has a team-high 51 assists. Rogers is making 62.5 percent of her shots, averaging 13.2 points, and Antonia Peresson has totaled a team-high 27 3s.
Nationally, Georgia Tech is 10th in steals per game (12.3), 32nd in field goal percentage (44.7) and rebound margin (+8.7), and 36th in scoring offense (76.8).

SERIES HISTORY – Georgia Tech vs. Louisville
Louisville and Georgia Tech met on the hardwood for the first time last year, when the Cardinals posted a 75-48 victory in their first game in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Louisville shot 50.0 percent for the game and scored 46 points in the paint.
Mariya Moore totaled 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting and added eight assists in the win. Cortnee Walton had six points and three rebounds, and Arica Carter totaled four assists and two steals.
