
Moore Has Game-High 25, Women’s Basketball Defeats Georgia Tech 78-65

Mariya Moore had a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds.
ATLANTA – Mariya Moore scored 23 of her game-high 25 points in the second half, and Louisville earned its seventh-consecutive victory with a 78-65 win over Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon.
Myisha Hines-Allen poured in 15 of her 19 points in the second half, and Briahanna Jackson totaled 13 points for the Cardinals (10-5, 2-0 ACC).
Despite playing the game at Georgia Tech (10-5, 0-2), Louisville had a robust cheering section behind its bench in a homecoming for freshman and Douglasville native Asia Durr. The top-rated recruit in the class of 2015, Durr finished with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting to with three boards and two assists.
Aaliyah Whiteside paced the Yellow Jackets with 24 points, connecting on 11-of-12 free throw attempts.
Louisville, which trailed at the half despite leading most of the second quarter, used a 14-4 run to retake the lead. Hines-Allen scored six points in the span, and Moore knocked down two key 3s, including one in front of the Cardinals' bench to put Louisville in front 44-37.
Georgia Tech continued to chip away at the lead, tying the game for the fifth time in the fourth quarter with 7:04 left on a pair of Aaliyah Whiteside free throws.
Moore responded for the Cardinals with her third 3-pointer of the game before a layup and-one to push the lead to two possessions. The sophomore, who scored 17 of the Cardinals' 25 points in the quarter, spent much of her time in the fourth at the free throw line. Louisville went 16-for-22, with Moore accounting for 12 of those points.
Defensively, Louisville forced Georgia Tech into a number of contested shots and held the Yellow Jackets to just 33.9 percent from the floor. In the fourth quarter, Georgia Tech made just three baskets. Individually, Jackson recorded a game-high four steals for the second-consecutive game.
Louisville held a 39-31 advantage on the glass, outrebounding its opponent for the sixth time in the last seven games. Hines-Allen, who entered the game with the fourth-best rebounding average in the ACC, collected eight boards, Moore pulled down seven, and Cortnee Walton grabbed five. The Cardinals also benefitted from their 17 boards on the offensive end, scoring 24 second-chance points.
The Cardinals return to Louisville for consecutive games at the KFC Yum! Center, playing host to Virginia Tech on Thursday at 7 p.m. before squaring off against Duke on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both contests will be broadcast on ESPN3.
