Mariya Moore and Asia Durr helped Louisville earn consecutive conference wins last week.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's basketball's Mariya Moore and Asia Durr earned Atlantic Coast Conference honors on Monday, sweeping the league's weekly awards.
Moore, who earned College Sports Madness ACC Player of the Week accolades earlier in the day, was named the ACC Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Durr was tabbed ACC Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career.
The duo helped extend the Cardinals' winning streak to 11 games, pushing Louisville (14-5) to 6-0 in league play.
A sophomore from Hercules, Calif., Moore averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in helping the Cardinals earn road victories against Virginia and NC State.
She opened the week with a solid all-around effort versus the Cavaliers, totaling 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, and a game-tying high three steals. Moore followed the performance with a career-high 31 points against NC State on 10-of-19 shooting in a comeback win. With Louisville trailing by 14 at the half, Moore scored 24 points in the second half. She scored the Cardinals' final four points – all from the free throw line – to tie and then win the game.
Moore's 31 points are the most in a game by a Louisville player since Shoni Schimmel scored the same total against Maryland on April 1, 2014, in the NCAA Tournament. With the eight free throws against NC State, Moore surpassed the plateau of 200 free throws (201-for-255) for her career.
Moore is fourth in scoring in conference-only stats at 18.0 per game and third in assists per game (4.8).
Durr averaged 15.5 points, 2.5 steals, and 2.0 rebounds, while connecting on 52.4 percent of her shots in the two wins. The freshman capped the week shooting 6-of-9 (66.7) from 3-point range.
The Douglasville, Ga., native had 10 points, three steals, and two rebounds on Thursday in the victory at Virginia. Durr then compiled a season-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, connecting on all five 3-point attempts, against NC State. She scored 13 in the second half, including a 3-pointer to bring Louisville within two late in the fourth period and then a 3 that set up free throws to tie and then secure the win.
Durr is averaging 12.7 points in conference action, shooting 42.3 percent (11-for-26) from beyond the arc.
Louisville is idle this week and returns to play at Syracuse on Jan. 25. Tip is set for 7 p.m. on RSN/FOX.
