Crosse Country to compete at the Commodore Classic on Saturday

Start Times: 9 a.m. EST Men's 8K | 10 a.m. EST Women's 5K
Place: Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tenn.

THE FIELD: The race will feature 22 schools with a talent-rich field of teams, including 18 teams who appear in the latest USTFCCCA regional rankings.
After an impressive showing at the Evansville Early Bird Classic two weeks ago, the University of Louisville men's and women's cross country teams are ready to face a challenging field at the Commodore Classic on Saturday morning. The men's 8K event begins at 9:00 a.m. with the women's 5K event following at 10:00 a.m.
The Cardinals had a great start to the season in Evansville a few weeks ago with both squads picking up victories. Junior Claire Noser paced the women's field with a career best 5K time of 18:07.7 to anchor the women to their first victory of the season. Freshman Aurilla Wilson finished behind Noser with a time of 18:17.6 while senior Benadate Cheruiyot finished third with a time of 18:23.4. In all, the women had seven athletes finish in the top 10 with senior Leah Kiyohara (5th), sophomores Bailey Davis (6th) and Mia Ross (8th) Â and redshirt junior Kelsey Cramsey (9th) all finishing with respectable times.
Senior Japhet Kipkoech led the men's squad and finished second overall behind Indiana State's John Mascari. Kipkoech finished a time of 24:57.1 with redshirt junior Edwin Kibichiy finishing third with a time of 24:58.1. Newcomer Calvin Chemoiywo finished fourth in his Louisville debut with a time of 25:31.7. Matt Stephenson finished seventh with a time of 26:27.1 while Ernest Kibet finished ninth in 26:43.5. Freshman Daniel Fleace finished 13th in his first race with the Cardinals.
After a week off, the Cardinals will compete in the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 3 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
