
Louisville's F/C Anas Mahmoud Out With Knee Injury

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville sophomore forward/center Anas Mahmoud will have surgery on Thursday to repair a torn medial meniscus in his left knee.
Mahmoud, who twisted his knee recently while playing basketball, will likely be sidelined 4-6 weeks with the injury. UofL team physician Dr. John Ellis will perform the surgery at Jewish Hospital East. He is expected to be playing with the Cardinals' games during their visit to Puerto Rico on August 10-17.
A 7-0 native of Cairo, Egypt, Mahmoud played in 29 games for the Cardinals last season, totaling 35 points, 41 rebounds and 20 blocked shots. His top effort of the season came against Western Kentucky when he scored six points, pulled down five rebounds and blocked three shots in 23 minutes of action.
Update
Mahmoud had successful surgery to repair the cartilage tear in his left knee on Thursday and is expected back within 4-6 weeks.
