LOUISVILLE, Ky. - While the University of Louisville men's golf team achieved success on the course by advancing to an NCAA Regional this season, two men's golfers made a name for themselves in the classroom.
Junior Robin Sciot-Siegrist, a sport administration major, and J.D. Lehman, a business major, were named on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golf Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00-cumulative average during their academic career.
An all-ACC selection, Sciot-Siegrist won an ACC championship this spring after finishing at 11-under-par, and also carded a 5-under par to sit in a tie for fourth at the NCAA Regional. He won a one-hole playoff at the regional to become the school's first individual qualifier for the NCAA Championships.
Sciot-Siegrist was selected as an honorable mention All-American by Golfweek.com and was a PING all-Region honoree.
Recently, Sciot-Siegrist made an impressive run at the British Amateur, finishing in the final eight during match play at one of the world's most prestigious amateur championships.
Lehman, who was tabbed as the Jim Ferriell Award for the most improved player, appeared in 12 events and ended the year with a 73.94 stroke average. He posted one top-10 finish and two others in the top 20.
Playing a team-high 35 rounds, Lehman shot a 1-under par to finish 10th at the Sagamore Fall Preview and finished 12th at the Cardinal Intercollegiate.
