Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton
(Opening statement) "I understand we lost to a team that created a lot of havoc for us in this particular game we turned the ball over 21 times gave up three points they scored three points off our turnovers and in the first half I think we must have missed at least seven lay ups when we did successfully not turn the ball over but that's what a system like that will do for you.
"I think the defense did a really good job at moving the ball and today I thought they shot better than they have been shooting. "I thought the kids fought hard. I wasn't disappointed in the effort. I was disappointed in our execution. I think we're going to be a better basketball team as we move into the remainder of the season and next year. As for this year, I think our attitude is good. "We need to focus on the things that we can control. There's no doubt in my mind that we are going to have a great basketball program. Right now we're in a rebuilding cycle. However, were overcoming like we always do. I think it's just a matter of time for us to get back where we need to be.
"Kids go to school because they want you play and this is the hand we have dealt to us. I think we'll work through it. You learn more when you're dealing with adversity than you do any other time."
Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino
(Opening Statement) "Every time we have a big game and we need a win, I bring this young lady in, my granddaughter; we don't lose with her in attendance. It was a terrific win for us; I think we responded as a team should respond to a difficult situation. We played great team basketball for the third time this year. Our deflection total was 37, we had 20 assists and held them to six. We guarded the three and we were very conscious of what they did to Miami to come back in that game and we didn't want it to happen to us. It was a very good win for us. "
(On his team's "next man up" approach) "The thing that I love about tonight's performance is that Terry Rozier had a bad night offensively and it didn't affect other areas of his game. Tonight he had nine assists and six steals and played a great point guard's game. His growth has been amazing. Snider learned a lot of valuable lessons tonight, Gill stepped up big, Mathiang was big. This was the best team performance."
(On road wins in the ACC) "If you look at the way FSU plays at home, whether it's Duke or the other teams that they've played, they basically play everybody tough. So this was a great performance by us late in the season and we had to change our team, we are a different team now. This was one of our better games."
(On His offense vs. FSU defense) "We shot well, we passed well, they're a very good defensive team and we wanted to get in the bonus to get to the foul line. They wanted to foul (Mangok) Mathiang at the end of the game and he hit some big free throws late."
(On defensive strategy vs Xavier Rathan-Mayes) "We just wanted to take his legs out as much as we could. Pressure him as much as we could and if he went baseline we wanted to trap him, on the wing we wanted to trap him, and we wanted to stay off the non-shooters and rotate to the shooters. We did a real good job of stopping the 3 ball. A little late in the game we gave up a few but by and large we did a great job. That performance against Miami, when they told me I couldn't wait to watch the end of the game. How does someone score 30 points in 4 minutes plus. It's kind of amazing, he had great range. Then you look at the stats (for tonight) and he shoots 26% from the 3, so you're scratching your head because the shot looks great, looks like it's going in, and we just wanted to make sure that we wouldn't rely on him missing. We were going to play him really, really hard."
