LOUISVILLE BASKETBALL TEAM NOTES
Louisville fell to 13-3 at home this season and lost for just the 12th time in the history of the KFC Yum! Center.
Louisville committed just one turnover in the first half for the second time this season in Saturday's game versus NC State. The Cards also only turned the ball over one time in the first half of a 78-63 win over Virginia Tech on Jan. 13.
Louisville finished with a season-low five miscues for the game, the lowest total since turning the ball over seven times for the game against Virginia Tech on Jan. 13. It was the lowest turnover total since committing five against Hofstra on Nov. 12, 2013.
After holding a 31-30 lead after 20 minutes on Saturday, Louisville dropped to 78-2 over the last three seasons when leading at halftime, including an 18-1 mark this season. It was the first time the Cardinals lost when holding a lead at the break since falling to Kentucky last season in the Sweet 16. Louisville held a 34-31 lead at the break, but dropped a 74-69 decision to the Wildcats in Indianapolis, Ind.
After being held without a 3-point field goal for the first time in 23 years on Wednesday versus Pittsburgh, the Cardinals responded by connecting on 7-of-16 in Saturday's game.
It's only the fifth time this season an opponent scored at least 70 points in a game.
Louisville tied its season-low for steals in a game with two after also recording just two in a loss to Virginia on Feb. 7.
The Cardinals connected on 20-of-61 shots against NC State, which marked the fifth this season the Cardinals shot lower than 33 percent in a game. It was the lowest shooting percentage for the Cardinals since connecting on 29.5 percent of their shots in a loss to Duke on Jan. 17.
Louisville blocked seven shots in the loss to NC State on Saturday, giving the Cardinals 16 blocks over the last two games. The Cardinals entered the game seventh in the country in blocked shots per game (5.9).
Louisville made 75.0 percent (18-for-24) of its free throws on Saturday, marking the third-straight game of hitting better than 75.0 percent from the charity stripe.
After finishing with a season-low three steals at Virginia last Saturday, Louisville had its second lowest total of the season on Wednesday, closing the game with just three against Pitt. Louisville allowed a season-high 44 second-half points to NC State in the 74-65 loss.
The Cardinals were out-rebounded 47-37, marking just the third time this season that an opponent held a double-digit edge. North Carolina held a 40-30 advantage on the board on Jan. 10 and Kentucky held a 46-33 edge on Dec. 27.4
LOUISVILLE PLAYER TEAM NOTES
Sophomore Terry Rozier fouled out for the second time this season, also committing five fouls versus Wake Forest on Jan. 4. It was the third time he fouled out in his career. He finished with a season-low seven points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field. It marked only the second time this season he was held under double digits, with the first time coming versus Cleveland State (9 points) on Nov. 26.
After scoring an ACC personal-best four points versus Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Quentin Snider scored five points in 11 minutes of action.
Senior guard Chris Jones recorded at least 20 points for the fourth time in conference play this season. He finished with 20 points on 5-of-16 shooting from the floor in the loss.
Jones connected on a career-high 9-of-11 from the free throw line, besting his previous high of eight made versus Wake Forest on Jan. 4.
Senior Montrezl Harrell finished with 13 rebounds, marking the 10th time this season he has grabbed double-digit rebounds in a game. He is averaging 12.5 rebounds over the last two games.
After being limited to one minute of action in Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh, senior Wayne Blackshear came back to score 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor in the loss to NC State. A native of Chicago, Ill., Blackshear's 19 points were the most since he tallied 31 versus Cal-State Northridge on Dec 23. Blackshear scored 11 of the team's first 19 points to start the game.
Blackshear connected on 4-of-6 trifectas, marking the third time this season that he has hit four or more 3-pointers in a game.
