
Women’s Basketball Begins Two-Game Road Swing at Tennessee Tech

The Cardinals and Golden Eagles tip on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's basketball team begins a two-game road swing on Friday, when it plays at Tennessee Tech in the Eblen Center at 6:30 p.m. ET in Cookeville, Tenn.
The meeting will air on the OVC Digital Network, and the radio broadcast will be available on WKRD 790 AM in Louisville, with Matt Andrews (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson (analyst) calling the action.
Louisville (5-5) is coming off its fourth victory in the last five games, routing Dartmouth 94-52 on Tuesday night in the KFC Yum! Center. Five players scored in double figures for the Cardinals, who shot 52.1 percent from the field, turned the ball over just 10 times, and won the battle on the boards 45-27.
Myisha Hines-Allen had her second-consecutive game with a double-double, posting 13 points and 10 rebounds, with a game-high four steals in 20 minutes. Briahanna Jackson and Sam Fuehring tallied game highs of 14 points, and Asia Durr (12) and Erin DeGrate (10 points, nine rebounds) also reached double-digit points.
Hines, over the last six games, is averaging 15.8 points on 54.9 percent shooting and 8.2 rebounds.
For the season, Jackson is pacing the Cardinals in points (14.9) and steals (28) and is third on the team with 25 assists. Hines-Allen is scoring 14.3 points per game – second best – while averaging 7.8 boards, a mark that is sixth in the ACC. Mariya Moore rounds out the top three scorers at 13.4 points per game, with a team-high 40 assists.
Tennessee Tech enters the nonconference matchup having lost four of its last five games, holding a 3-6 record.
Last time out, Tennessee Tech fell to fellow ACC foe Clemson 71-53 on Dec. 13. The Golden Eagles outrebounded Clemson 37-32, but shot just 30.2 percent from the field and had 20 turnovers in the contest.
Tennessee Tech's Samaria Howard had 18 points despite making just 3-of-13 field goals. She hit 12 of her 15 free throws and also had eight rebounds in the loss. Hannah Goolsby scored 12 points, and Lindsey Jennings came off the bench to contribute 11 points and two rebounds.
On the season, Howard is pacing the team in scoring at 17.7 per game. Goolsby is second in scoring (11.2), with a team-best 17 assists. The team's leading rebounder Alliyah Smith is averaging 7.3 boards per contest.
The Golden Eagles, under the guidance of fourth-year coach Jim Davis, were picked to finish 11th in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll after going 6-23 a season ago. Howard was selected to the all-conference preseason team.

SERIES HISTORY – Tennessee Tech vs. Louisville
Louisville and Tennessee Tech have met four times on the court, with the Cardinals boasting a 3-1 series advantage.
The two programs last played on Nov. 22, 2009, when Louisville earned an 84-54 victory in Freedom Hall. The Cardinals, who scored 56 second-half points, shot 53.3 percent from the field and held a 47-32 advantage on the boards.
Becky Burke had a team-high 16 points, and Monique Reid and Ashley Rainey chipped in with 14 points apiece.
