
Hines-Allen’s 20 Points Leads Women’s Basketball to Win Over Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Myisha Hines-Allen scored a game-high 20 points, and Louisville's overpowering second-half performance helped the Cardinals to a 76-54 victory at Tennessee Tech on Friday night.
Louisville (6-5) logged 40 points off of 27 forced turnovers and produced more than half of its points (44) in the paint for its third-consecutive victory.
Mariya Moore and Briahanna Jackson each added 11, and Arica Carter had four steals and dished out a game-high five of the Cardinals' 21 assists – Louisville's second straight and fifth overall game this season with 20 assists.
Samaria Howard led Tennessee Tech (3-7) with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting, totaling 17 in the opening half. The Golden Eagles shot 45.2 percent from the floor, connecting on seven 3s.
The Cardinals outscored Tennessee Tech 19-8 in the final quarter. Jackson and Hines-Allen helped spur Louisville to a 9-0 run, holding the Golden Eagles without a basket for a 4:31 stretch in the period. Jackson started the run on a jumper, Hines-Allen converted a layup, Jackson followed with a 3-pointer, and Hines-Allen capped it with a pair of free throws.
Louisville built its largest lead in the first half to 14 at 37-23 on one Moore's three treys with 3:39 remaining in the second period. The Golden Eagles used a pair of 3-pointers from Howard, one from Hannah Goolsby, and a layup Lindsey Jennings to cut the deficit to five before the break.
After a 3:15 drought from both teams to open the second half, Louisville began clicking on offense and eventually pushed the advantage back to double-digits at 49-36 on a pair of made free throws by Carter.
Louisville again received solid play from its bench. Erin DeGrate registered six points and five rebounds, Taja Cole tallied four assists, and Asia Durr finished with five points and five assists.
The Cardinals return to action on Sunday at the College of the Charleston. Tip at TD Arena is set for 2 p.m. in Charleston, S.C.
