
Women’s Basketball Overcomes, Holds off College of Charleston 71-67

Myisha Hines-Allen produced her third double-double of the season.
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Myisha Hines-Allen totaled 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Louisville held off College of Charleston 71-67 on Sunday afternoon.
Briahanna Jackson added 19 points and seven rebounds, and Mariya Moore earned her second career double-double with 15 points and 12 assists.
Louisville (7-5) finished the game 50.9 percent from the floor and held a 40-20 advantage on the boards. Sixteen of the Cardinals' rebounds came on the offensive end, resulting in 16 second-chance points.
The Cardinals went on a 13-0 run in the second quarter and then used a 9-0 run to take a 42-36 lead in the third quarter that they never relinquished.
Hines-Allen was pivotal to Louisville's 14-point comeback before halftime, scoring nine points on 4-of-4 shooting to go with four rebounds. Jackson, like Hines-Allen, had 13 points by the break after scoring seven in the opening period.
Charleston (4-5) trailed for at least three possessions for most of the second half before it trimmed the deficit to 62-59 on a 3-pointer by Kelsey Booth at the 4:13 mark in the fourth quarter.
Asia Durr responded with a basket before Cortnee Walton hit consecutive jumpers to give Louisville a six-point advantage, 68-62. The Cougars came within three again after a 3-pointer from Jackie Luna-Castro. A free throw by Moore and two by Jackson sealed the win.
Hines-Allen, who produced her third double-double this month, is averaging 16.7 points and 9.0 rebounds in December.
Louisville is idle for more than week, when it plays host to UT Martin on Dec. 28 at the KFC Yum! Center.
