Five Cardinals scored in double figures in the victory.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville saw what it can do when all cylinders are firing on offense.
Five players reached double figures, and the Cardinals routed Dartmouth 94-52 on Tuesday night in the KFC Yum! Center in a game they led for 38:01.
Louisville (5-5) looked more confident as the game progressed, shooting 63.6 percent in the second half and totaling 55 points. In the fourth quarter alone, the Cardinals knocked down 12 of 17 field-goal attempts, a 70.6 percent clip, including a pair of 3-pointers.
The Cardinals, who have showcased their long-range abilities at times this season, knocked down 10 3-pointers – a feat the team accomplished in its season opener against California – and now are averaging 6.5 per contest.
Myisha Hines-Allen, who is continuing to become one of the most consistent threats on the team, recorded her second-consecutive double-double, totaling 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting to go with 10 rebounds and a game-high four steals in just 20 minutes.
Hines-Allen, who is averaging 15.8 points and 8.2 rebounds over her last six games, became the first player to log consecutive double-doubles since Asia Taylor achieved that feat against LSU (Nov. 14) and Oklahoma (Nov. 17) in 2013.
Fellow starters Briahanna Jackson (14 points) and Cortnee Walton (nine points and six rebounds) also had solid games in shorter minutes following an IUPUI contest in which the five starters were forced to go more than 30 minutes in a win.
This time around, Louisville went to its bench early and often against Dartmouth (2-9). Five minutes into the contest, head coach Jeff Walz sent in substitutions for all five starters.
"I thought our effort was terrible," Walz said of his starters. "We tried to get too cute at the beginning of the game. Just shoot a lay-up … we're trying to throw passes behind us.
"I mean, it was a good swap. I thought they brought us some energy. I thought they did some good things. Then, we went back and I thought our experienced kids went out there and started to play a little bit harder, and did some really good things."
Sam Fuehring had a season-high 14 points, Asia Durr poured in 12, and Erin DeGrate fell just shy of her first career double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds in 16 minutes. Dakota Weatherford knocked down a pair of 3s and registered eight points.
Combined, the unit scored 47, the most posting the same total against Ball State on Dec. 17, 2013.
Louisville also saw a chunk of its points come via its defense. The Cardinals forced 22 Dartmouth turnovers, converting those opportunities into 29 points.
The Cardinals hit the road for a pair of contests before the holiday break, playing at Tennessee Tech (Dec. 18) and then flying east for a game at the College of Charleston (Dec. 20) just two days later.
