Myisha Hines-Allen scored a team-high 16 points to go with eight rebounds.
ESTERO, Fla. – The University of Louisville women's basketball team fell to Purdue 62-60 on Saturday night in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla.
The No. 22 Cardinals (1-3) held a 56-51 advantage with 3:04 to go in the fourth quarter, but five Boilermaker free throws and three layups over the final two-and-a-half minutes helped Purdue notch its fifth-consecutive victory of the season.
Louisville, which plays Dayton in a rematch of last year's NCAA Sweet 16 matchup on Sunday, had climbed on top with 25 seconds remaining behind Myisha Hines-Allen's layup, but Purdue's Bridget Perry knocked down two of her six made free throws in the fourth period and April Wilson added one with 10 seconds to go.
The Cardinals twice had an opportunity to retake the lead, but drives by Briahanna Jackson and Arica Carter were disrupted by Purdue (5-0) and kept the Cardinals from attempting a field goal.
Hines-Allen finished with a team-high 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting, adding eight rebounds, and Mariya Moore contributed nine points – both in reserve roles. Jackson had 13 points, knocking down three 3-pointers, and three of the team's 12 steals.
The Cardinals, for the second-consecutive night, went with a defensive-minded lineup. Louisville forced 12 first-half turnovers, 18 for the game, and converted those opportunities into 17 points.
Purdue, paced by Ashley Morrissette's game-high 17 points, shot 53.5 percent from the floor.
