SERIES
• With Saturday's result, Louisville trails 9-8 in the all-time series against Pittsburgh.
• The Panthers hold a 6-5 lead at home in the series against the Cardinals.
TEAM
• Louisville captains for Saturday's game were seniors James Burgess, Aaron Epps and Sheldon Rankins and juniors Keith Kelsey and Brandon Radcliff.
• Louisville won the pregame coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.
• Saturday's loss halted Louisville's winning streak at four games.
• The Cardinals close ACC action with a 5-3 conference mark for the second straight season.
OFFENSE
• The Cardinals finished with 355 yards passing on Saturday, their second highest total of the season through the air.
• Wide receiver Jamari Staples had nine catches for a career-best 194 yards, tied for the sixth most receiving yards in a single game in Louisville history equaling the total accomplished three previous times, the most recent of which was in 2000 by Deion Branch.
• Staples caught a career-long 57-yard reception to set up the Cards' second touchdown and then added his third touchdown of the season just before halftime. He recorded a career-high 155 yards receiving on six catches in the first half.
• Junior tight end Keith Towbridge scored on a 29-yard touchdown reception, the second of his career – both coming this season.
• Freshman quarterback Lamar Jackson directed a 2-play, 75-yard drive before the half for Louisville's third touchdown.
• Jackson threw his team-leading ninth touchdown of the season finding Staples for a 49-yard score just before halftime.
• Jackson also ran for his team-high seventh rushing touchdown, a two-yard score in the fourth quarter.
• Wide receiver Traveon Samuel caught his first career touchdown reception on an 18-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter from Kyle Bolin.
• Bolin was 10-of-20 for 175 yards passing and two touchdowns through the air in the first half. He has thrown six touchdown passes in the last three games.
• Junior tight end Cole Hikutini had a career best 61 yards receiving on two catches on Saturday.
DEFENSE
• Junior linebacker Keith Kelsey led the Cardinals with 12 tackles on Saturday, the fifth time this season he has finished with 10 or more tackles in a game.
• Kelsey had one tackle-for-loss giving him 11.0 TFLs this season.
• Sophomore safety Chucky Williams finished with a career-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops. His previous high for tackles was eight against Syracuse earlier this season.
• Junior linebacker Devonte Fields recorded two sacks on Saturday increasing his total to five sacks in the last five games. He has 5.5 sacks this season.
• The Cardinals were credited with at least one sack for the 10th consecutive game this season.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Kicker John Wallace kicked two field goals to extend his school record of career field goals made to 65. Wallace has connected on seven-straight field goal attempts.
• Samuel registered the second-longest kick return of his career with a 41-yarder in the first quarter.
