Sophomores Sidney Melton and Alison Szydlowski recap day two of the OKC Challenge
The University of Louisville softball team has reached the midway point of the 2015 Oklahoma City Challenge. The Black Squad prevailed, grabbing 300 points in Friday's action and now holds a 400-250 overall lead in the competition.
Sophomores Sidney Melton (Red Squad) and Alison Szydlowski (Black Squad) are their respective teams' official bloggers. Below are their recaps of Friday's action.

On day two of OKC Challenge, both teams had to meet at Marshall at 6:45 a.m. sharp where the team captains were given instructions. Each team was given a rope and had to run down to Papa John's stadium where our football team plays. The Black Team pulled ahead and made it to the stadium where all our coaching staff waited for us.
Â
For the real challenge, each team started at the 50-yard line with our ropes. On the whistle, each team started on opposite sides of the stadium and had to run each row of stairs all the way to the other side. The black team started on the right. At first, it took us a while to work together as a team and as a consequence we fell behind. Towards the end we lost a few plays but stayed strong until the end. Once we finished, our team captain lead us in ten perfect jumping jacks on the 50 yard line where we made a huge comeback to take the win for day two! Black team now leads over red team 400-250.

Day 2 of the Oklahoma City Challenge was nothing short of just that, a challenge. The day's event consisted of a stadium run in our very own Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The instructions were simple. Each team started on opposite sides of the stadium and had to weave up and down all the stairs until they reached the other side while carrying a (very heavy) rope. A foot race to see who could make it down to the Cardinal bird head on the 50-yard line first would decide which team was the winner. Whichever team got there first and completed 10 perfect jumping jacks would win the 300 points for that day. Day two goes to the black team. The red squad faced adversity with several injuries and some major leg cramps. Despite these setbacks, and getting the rope caught on the last stair rail down, the race was very close. Thirty seconds came between the winning and the losing team.Â
Â
The Red Squad is not backing down. We are taking the weekend to rest and prepare for battle on Monday. Standings currently sit at Red Squad - 250, Black Squad - 400.
