
Washington Named Bednarik Defensive Back of the Week

Washington recorded a career-high 12 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown in the 41-17 win over Syracuse.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville cornerback Trumaine Washington was named the Bednarik Award Player of the Week for his performance in Louisville's 41-17 victory over Syracuse last Saturday at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Making his eighth start of the season, Washington posted a career-high 12 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and one sack as the Cardinals held the Orange to 286 yards of total offense and 102 yards on the ground.
Trailing 10-7 in the second quarter, the Miami, Fla., native made the game's biggest play when raced 39-yards  on an interception return for a score to put the Cardinals ahead to stay to secure their third-straight win. It was his team-leading fourth interception on the season.
The Cardinals will play their final home game of the 2015 when they take on Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 12:30 p.m.
