LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's golf team wrapped up the second day of the Palmetto Intercollegiate with a 19-over-par 307 and sits in sixth place through 36 holes of competition.
On a day that featured relatively high team scores, the Cardinals dropped two spots in the standings with a combined 21-over-par 597 at the Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Cardinals finish the event on Tuesday, with Katie Mitchell being the first to tee off from hole No. 3 at 8:45 a.m.
Mitchell is pacing the Cardinals after shooting a 4-over-par 76. The senior, starting the day on No. 10, compiled a solid 1-under-par on the back nine, but then struggled with a couple of double bogeys on Nos. 1 and 6. Over the two-day span, she has a 3-over-par 147 and is tied for 13th.
Classmate Laura Restrepo, the only other Cardinal in the top 25, put together a 5-over-par 77 in the second round. The Panama native, unlike Mitchell, struggled through her first nine holes before settling down after the turn and shooting an ever-par on the front nine.
Lexie Long and Shannon Gramley, the Cardinals' final two scorers, are tied for 40th at 7-over-par 151. Long hit a 4-over-par 76 on Monday, while Gramley carded a 6-over-par 78.
