Women’s Golf Caps Fall Season, Finishes Sixth at Palmetto Intercollegiate

The Cardinals tied for the second-lowest score of the third round.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's golf team capped its fall season on Tuesday, placing sixth at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The Cardinals, who tied for the second-lowest score of the third round at the Turtle Point Golf Course, finished the tournament at 25-over-par 889. Over the course of the three-day event, Louisville had 177 pars and 27 birdies.
Individually, seniors Laura Restrepo and Katie Mitchell tied for sixth each with a 2-over-par 218.
A Panama native, Restrepo tied for the best individual third-round score in the top 10 by shooting a 2-under-par 70. She opened the day with five-consecutive pars before her first and only bogey on No. 9. From that point forward, she chipped in for birdie three times and had par on the other nine holes.
Mitchell, a Jacksonville, Fla., native, carded a 1-under-par 71 on the final day to rise seven spots on the leaderboard from Monday. She had four birdies over the 18 holes, including consecutively on Nos. 13 and 14.
Freshman Lexie Long had the third-best total on the team after shooting a 3-over-par 75. She tied for 35th with a composite 10-over-par 226. She tapped for a team-high 41 pars in the tournament.
Shannon Gramley rounded out the scoring, logging an 11-over-par 227 to tie for 38th.
Louisville returns to action at the end of January, competing against Kentucky in the second edition of the Battle of the Bluegrass State. The two teams will square off in a dual on Jan. 31 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
